KARACHI, Nov 15: Al-Jumaih Group of Saudi Arabia, the buyers of the Karachi Electric and Supply Corporation (KESC), has announced to make further investment in the city. A delegation of the Saudi group led by its managing director Abdul Aziz Al-Jumaih called on Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad on Tuesday expressed interest in investment opportunities available in the city and said that at this stage they were strengthening their bonds with the people of Pakistan through KESC.

“We are proud of investing in the power sector in Karachi and consider it an honour for us,” said Abdul Aziz Al-Jamaih.

The Saudi investors observed that investment, economic development and stability of institutions required political will which was significantly visible here.

They said their investment programme was not temporary but would continue with consolidation for a longer period.

The Sindh governor while welcoming the Saudi investors assured all cooperation from the government and people.

He said that increased investment led to generation of employment opportunities and help reducing poverty. “Privatization is proving helpful in accelerating this process,” he added.

He observed that with expansion projects, the KESC’s power generation capacity would also increase and expressed the hope that the corporation would prosper with mutual cooperation of employees and new management.

The delegation members assured that they would provide best service and facilities to the people of Karachi through KESC and apprised the governor about steps for protecting the rights of employees.

On the occasion Abdul Aziz Al-Jumaih handed over a cheque of Rs15 million to the governor towards President’s Relief Fund.—APP
