RIYADH: Prime Minister Imran Khan will arrive in Saudi Arabia’s capital on Saturday to attend the launching ceremony of Middle East Green Initiative (MGI) Summit at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The prime minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the foreign minister and other cabinet members, during his three-day official visit.

At the summit, Mr Khan will share with the delegates his perspective on the challenges faced by developing countries due to climate change. He will also highlight Pakistan’s experience of launching nature-based solutions to address environmental challenges, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Friday.

This is the first of its kind summit being held in the Middle East region. Aimed at protecting the nature and planet, Green Saudi Arabia and Green Middle East initiatives were launched by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman in March. Welcoming the initiatives, Prime Minister Khan offered to share experiences and lessons Pakistan learnt from the Clean and Green Pakistan and 10 Billion Tree Tsunami programmes.

The premier will have interaction with the Saudi leadership, with particular focus on advancing economic and trade relations to create more opportunities for Pakistani workforce and ensure welfare of the Pakistani community in the kingdom. The two sides are expected to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

During his visit, Mr Khan will participate in an event on the promotion of investment in Pakistan and interact with leading investors and businessmen from Saudi Arabia as well as from Pakistanis living in the kingdom.
