BAJAUR: Hundreds of people on Thursday attended the funerals of two policemen who were martyred in a roadside remote-controlled bomb explosion in a hilly locality of Mamund tehsil here on Wednesday evening.

The funeral prayers of the deceased constables Abdul Samad Khan and Noor Rahman were offered in their native Inayat Kallay and Laghari areas, respectively, which were attended by people from different walks of life. Senior officials, including district police officer Abdul Samad, were also in attendance at both the funeral prayers. Later, both the martyred policemen were laid to rest in their ancestral graveyards.

Earlier, the funeral prayer of the martyred policemen was also held at the police lines in Civil Colony, Khar, late on Wednesday night which was attended by scores of people, their colleagues and family members.

Deputy commissioner Iftikhar Alam, commandant Bajaur Scouts Col Waqas Shauib Jan and DPO Abdul Samad were present on the occasion.

Similarly, the bodies of two martyred FC personnel Jamshed and Mudassir were sent to their native areas for burial after necessary formalities late on Wednesday night.

The four security personnel, including two FC men and two policemen, were martyred in a remote-controlled bomb blast in Teer Banda locality near the Pak-Afghan border.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued to media the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the incident.
