LAHORE: Punjab reported 279 cases of dengue fever and two related deaths during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of such cases to 7,032 and the death toll to 21.

Of the new positive cases, 204 were reported in Lahore, 36 in Rawalpindi, 5 each in Kasur, Bahwalpur and Sargodah, 3 each in Jehlum and Multan, while 2 each cases were reported in Bahwalnagar, Lodhran, Mianwali, Muzafargarh and Okara.

According to the official data released by the health department here on Monday, Lahore reported total 5,078 confirmed cases of dengue fever so far.

Out of total 1,809 patients hospitalised across Punjab, 854 were under treatment in Lahore’s health facilities.

About availability of beds for dengue patients in hospitals of the province, Health Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch said 3,705 beds were allocated for dengue in Punjab.

He appealed to the religious scholars to inform the worshipers coming to the mosques about the prevention of dengue and Covid infections. The health secretary also urged the people to extend full cooperation to the health department teams if they come to their home or business centres for checking the dengue larvae.
