MANSEHRA: Parliamentary leader of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawazin the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Sardar Mohammad Yusuf has accused the provincial government of delaying the release of development funds to the opposition lawmakers.

“The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf has been ruling the province for the last eight years but it hasn’t released funds meant for the schemes of opposition MPAs and therefore, various schemes couldn’t be executed on time,” he told reporters here on Monday.

Mr Yusuf said work on his various development schemes had entered the slow lane due to delay in release of funds.

“Though the government has upgraded the Jabori basic health unit to a rural health centre, the provision of equipment and posting of staff members has been awaited,” he said.

The lawmaker said he was in contact with the health department’s high-ups for the purpose.

“The ruling PTI has miserably failed to come up to the people’s expectations as its flawed policies have caused unprecedented inflation and unemployment in the country,” he said.

Mr Yusuf said if the government didn’t withdraw the recent record increase in electricity, gas and petroleum prices, the opposition parties would agitate in the province.

Meanwhile, the Lower Kohistan police department observed the Eid Miladun Nabi at the Police Lines here on Monday.

Police officials and people from different walks of life attended the event in large numbers.

Deputy commissioner Saiful Islam, who was also in attendance, said if the Muslims wanted to succeed in life, they should strictly follow the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

He said the prophet won the hearts and minds of infidels through utmost honesty and modesty.
