GUJAR KHAN: The body of a missing five-year-old girl was found from a ditch near her house in Sogadatt village in the jurisdiction of Mandra police station on Saturday.

The victim’s father told police that his daughter was playing outside her house and had gone missing since 1:30pm.

He along with his guest launched search for his daughter and found her dead in the pit of the dirty water in the neighbourhood.

When contacted, Mandra SHO said the parents of the victim were not willing to register the case considering it an accident but police motivated them to register the case as it was a murder not an accident.

He said he along with SP Saddar Division Kamran Hameed reached the family on Friday night after police received information of the incident from a source.

The body was taken into custody and was shifted to THQ Hospital Gujar Khan for the medico-legal report.

In the medical report, marks of rope were found in the neck which indicated that the minor girl was murdered.

A case has been registered against unknown suspects under section 302 of the PPC and investigations are underway, SHO Mohammad Khan said.
