LAHORE, Nov 11: Three-year-old bay colt, Thrill, who registered a facile victory on his previous outing, can claim the supporting event of the 11th Lahore Winter Meeting at the floodlit Racecourse on Saturday.

The Khanewal Plate, a class IV division II handicap race, will be run over 1300m and will be the fifth race of the day in a card of eight events.

The way Thrill won the race in his last outing was a treat to watch.

Running in the silks of Javed Khalid, a steward of the Jockey Club Of Pakistan, the colt eat up the ground entering the straight and won hands down under jockey Shahid Rehman.

Although penalised harshly in the weight scales, there seems hardly any reason for the colt’s not completing his hat trick of races on Saturday.

There are only six runners barring last-minute’s withdrawals. Strom Warning, Puma The Great and Fidel Castro should fight for the frame.

The feature event, the Khanewal Plate class IV division I has eleven contenders. Of them the three imported females are on chance.

They are: Calendar Girl, Dixie Queen and Free Fall. In the weight scales Calendar Girl, should break her duck on the win table, as the five-year-old mare has not won even once in her two-year racing career at the Lahore Racecourse.

One could only wish good luck to owner Khurshid Beg, who is a stud owner too.

Newton, Green Street and Manu Janu are the pick of nine runners left in the field for the Khanewal Plate, class IV division III handicap race over 1300m.

On handicap Newton should win the race. The opener is a match between two colts, Hatam and Herry Can View.

This term race is for two-year-old colts and fillies in which eight colts and fillies are vying for supremacy over the sprinting distance of 1000m.

On his last running Herry Can View looks to be enjoying an edge over Hatam. Scarlet Empress, who was beaten unplaced on her last outing should make amends in the second race.
