50 arrested for attacking gas pipeline

JACOBABAD, Nov 11: Police and Rangers launched a joint search operation in the border areas of Sindh and Balochistan following an attack on a gas pipeline in the Kashmore district on Friday and arrested 50 persons.

A large quantity of ammunition was recovered from their possession.

Tangwani TPO told Dawn that the operation had started in Dodo Debo, Bhago Marhato and Thakero Sundrani and other areas of Sindh and Balochistan on the directives of provincial and federal government.

The operation was supervised by Rangers Colonel Sajid.

The TPO said that the operation continued for six hours and warned that it could again be launched at any time within the next 24 hours.

KILLING: A brother and sister were killed in an armed attack in the limits of Mir Hassan police in the Naseerabad district on Friday.

Police sources said that three unidentified gunmen attacked the house of Gul Badan in the Raja village and opened fire on the inmates of the house. As a result of firing, Gul Badan and his sister, Gulzari, died on the spot.

The police sent the bodies to the civil hospital for autopsy.

The motive behind the attack could not be ascertained.

DEATH SENTENCE: Additional Sessions Judge of Naseerabad Abdul Majeed has awarded a capital punishment on Friday to Imdad Hussain, who was accused of killing one of his relatives.
