KARACHI: Nazim warns corrupt officials

Published November 12, 2005

KARACHI, Nov 11: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal on Friday asked the officers of the revenue department of City District Government Karachi (CDGK) to achieve their revenue-collection targets.

Presiding over the first review meeting of the revenue department officials, he warned the DOs and DDOs that stern action would be taken against those officers, who would not be able to meet their revenue target. He said that corrupt, inefficient and negligent officials would not be tolerated.

He asked the tax collection officers to perform their duties honestly. He asked the finance department of CDGK to write monthly progress report of every officer, so that action could be taken against those failing to meet their revenue collection targets.

He said the dream of serving Karachi and its citizens could not be materialized until ending massive corruption in the government departments and their inability to meet the revenue targets. He said that he would show no leniency in this regard.

He asked the officers to carry out their self-accountability, readjust their direction and make themselves ready and eager to serve the citizens. He asked them to keep a close vigil on the performance of their subordinate officials.
