KARACHI, Nov 11: A Jeay Sindh activist was killed by unknown persons and his body was recovered from Malir on Friday. Police said that the body was dumped in ‘B’ Area late on Thursday night. It was shifted to Jinnah Post-graduate Medical Centre where the victim was identified as Rashid alias Achu, 30. Hospital sources said that the body bore three bullet wounds.

Police said that before being killed, Rashid had been picked up by unknown persons from the same area.

The deceased was wanted in several cases of murder and other crimes since 1996, according to the police. Rashid, father of a child, was a resident of Pahelwan Goth, Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

As the news of his murder spread in Malir and Sachal areas, some youths in Kokhrapar pelted stones at passing vehicles and tried to block the roads by erecting barricades. However, police reached the troubled spots and took the situation under control.

MURDER: A young man was killed allegedly by one of his relatives over personal enmity in Jamshed Quarters, police said.

They said that Mohammad Younis was shot dead allegedly by Gul Badshah in the limits of Jamshad Quarters police station. The victim was taken to the Civil Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Gul Badshah fled from the scene.

ACCIDENT: A 12-year-old girl died in a hit-and-run accident in Steel Town late on Thursday night. Police said that the victim, Hameeda, was taken to the JPMC where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

ARRESTED: Kalri Police arrested and booked one, Maulana Abdul Hadi, under Zina Ordinance on Friday night for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old girl in Lyari.

Lyari TPO Omar Shahid told Dawn that someone from the neighbourhood of a madressah in Agra Taj Colony informed the police helpline that Maulana Abdul Hadi had kidnapped the girl.

A police mobile reached the area and arrested him from the madressah and recovered the girl.

Police quoted the girl as saying that the maulana had offered her sweets and stripped her of her clothes.

The TPO said the maulana was previously associated with another madressah located in Azizabad and had moved to his friends’ madressah in Agra Taj Colony recently.
