Six die, 38 hurt on road

SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 24: Six people were killed while 38 others sustained injuries in different road accidents in and around the city on Thursday.

A truck was on its way to Lahore from Faisalabad when it collided head-on with another truck near adda Panwan. The bus crew, Javed and Nazir, died on the spot.

Meanwhile, collision between a wagon and a truck on the Faisalabad Road left one Basharat dead. At least 12 people received injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital.

In an accident which occurred a few yards away from adda Panwan, a bus fell into a ditch while trying to save a tractor-trolley. Two passengers, Arshad and Mukhtaran, died instantly while 20 others sustained injuries.

Area police have registered a case against the absconding drivers.

A rashly-driven car, coming from Mandi Faizabad, rammed into a roadside tree. Aslam, trader by profession, died instantly. Nazir, Shabir and car driver Arshad sustained critical injuries.

Nine-year-old Irum was among the three who sustained injuries a head-on collision between a car and a wagon.
