KARACHI, Nov 10: The Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi, has increased the HSC examination, enrolment and registration fees for regular and external candidates by 25 per cent, which would be applicable in the case of HSC supplementary examinations’ candidates as well.

According to senior BIEK officials the upward revision in the fee schedule, which would be considered effective from July 1, 2005, would help meet additional expenditures taking place due to the 100 per cent increase in the invigilators’ remuneration as directed by the controlling authority of the board, the Sindh governor, a 15 per cent enhancement in the existing salaries of the employees as announced by the federal government and other miscellaneous expenditures.

The increases, ranging from Rs90 to Rs180, have been approved by the controlling authority of the board as well, said an official.

In the meantime, the BIEK controller of examination on Thursday announced that the HSC supplementary examinations, 2005, for college and private students would commence on Jan 10.

He said that the candidates would have to make payments in line with the new fee structures. Replying to a question, the controller said that his office was provided with the official and approved notification related to new fees schedule from the BIE’s secretary office only on Thursday, following which the examination and fee payments schedules were finalized without wasting any time.
