ISLAMABAD: Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kousar on Saturday directed the concerned officials to tighten noose around hardcore criminals in the city.

Presiding over a meeting to review crime situation at the Police Lines Headquarters, the DIG asked the officials to investigate criminals in a professional manner and submit a report to his office within 15 days.

He reviewed the performance of each zone and circle and asked the officials to take personal interest and constitute special teams and assign them tasks. He directed all the officers to also intensify the crackdown against illegal weapons and drugs.

Complaints should not come about drug peddling or usage from any area, the DIG said. He warned that strict disciplinary action would be initiated against concerned officers in case of complaints regarding drugs from their areas.
