KARACHI, Nov 9: Quetta overcame a disastrous beginning to reach 226 in their first innings against Karachi Harbour in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Silver League tie at the UBL Sports Complex on Wednesday.
After invited to have first use of the pitch by Moin Khan, playing his first game in the championship, Quetta slumped to 87 for six.
But skipper Faisal Irfan (36) and Naseer Khan, who ended up with undefeated 69, came to the visitors’ rescue with a defiant stand of 74.
Naseer then found another useful partner in wicket-keeper Sanaullah Khan as the pair added 43 for the seventh-wicket in just under an hour with Sanaullah’s contribution being 15.
Quetta were eventually dismissed in the 70th over with Naseer’s 125-ball innings in almost three hours containing eight fours and one six.
Rajesh Ramesh was Harbour’s most successful bowler with figures of four for 49 while fellow speedster Faraz Ahmed Khan claimed three for 58.
Karachi Harbour lost Khalid Latif for a duck but finished the day at 45 for one with Agha Sabir (10) and Saeed bin Nasir (22) at the crease.
