SAHIWAL, Nov 9: Carrying out court’s orders, Harappa police on Wednesday registered a case after about one year against a PML activist for injuring a PPP leader over a political rivalry.

PPP activist Ghulam Farid, the brother of PPP Harappa Town leader Muhammad Ramzan, was shot at and injured by Nazir Ahmed, a close associate of provincial agriculture minister Muhammad Arshad Khan Lodhi, and his accomplice on Nov 9, 2004.

During the last one year, Farid had been under treatment in different hospitals of the province. His brother, Muhammad Ramzan, approached the Harappa police for the registration of a case, but he was never entertained. At this, Ramzan moved the court which ordered the police to register a case against the assailants.

TAKEN AWAY: Three cars were reportedly taken away by unknown thieves from different parts of the city on Tuesday.

A car (Karachi-U-8326) was taken away from outside the house of its owner Mushtaq Ahmed in Jehaz Ground.

At College Chowk, thieves drove away with a car (LZZ-2296) owned by one Qamar Din.

Another newly-bought car was lifted by some miscreants from outside the house of Muhammad Ali Shah in Pak Avenue Colony.

City and Farid Town police have registered separate cases.

EXTENSION: Farid Town police have managed to get extension in the physical remand of Lahore’s Garden Town sub-inspector till Nov 11.

The police had arrested SI Raza Husain on the orders of the Lahore High Court and brought him to Sahiwal in the kidnap case of youth Talib Husain of Sahiwal.

The accused SI along with three constables and four other accomplices had kidnapped Talib Husain on the suspicion of having his involvement in a car theft case.
