Pakistan has reported less than 2,000 coronavirus cases for the second straight day after 1,757 infections were recorded over the last 24 hours.

A day earlier, the country had reported 1,780 cases. The total number of cases has risen to 1,240,425 and the death toll is 27,597.

A total of 48,732 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, according to the National Command and Operation Centre. The positivity rate is 3.6 per cent.

A breakdown of Covid-19 cases and deaths reported during the last 24 hours is as follows:

  • Sindh: 743 cases, 15 deaths
  • Punjab: 687 cases, 6 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 187 cases, 9 deaths
  • Islamabad: 99 cases, 1 death
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 26 cases
  • Balochistan: 12 cases
  • Gilgit-Baltistan: 3 cases
