LAHORE: The dengue virus is spreading gradually in Lahore as out of the total 73 new positive cases, 60 were reported in the provincial capital during the last 24 hours.

The official figures said Rawalpindi was the other major city where the most of the new dengue cases ( 11) were reported.

The total number of the dengue positive cases this year reached 824 in Lahore and 992 in other parts of the Punjab province.

The data said presently 48 dengue positive patients were under treatment in public and private hospitals of Lahore while 17 in the health facilities of Rawalpindi.

According to the health department, the teams destroyed larva from 69 locations of the provincial capital and appealed to the public to clean the areas to stop breeding of the mosquitoes spreading dengue virus.
