LAHORE, Nov 8: Pakistan cricket captain Inzamamul Haq on Tuesday expressed his desire to lead Pakistan till 2007 World Cup. “I want to lead the side till 2007 and I believe I have improved a lot as a captain,” he said.

Inzamam admitted that to remain a captain was not an easy job as it required lot of hard work and consistency in performance and he was confident that he can lead the team for quite some time.

The Pakistan skipper said when he was appointed captain a couple of years ago he was not matured enough as a leader but with the passage of time he has improved leadership qualities and handling of players.

“In the beginning the job was not easy and I would say leading a team is always a challenging task which I have now learnt to handle pressure situations and to motivate players under pressure.”

He said a lot depends on the team leader and as a captain he always tried to be a role model for fellow colleagues and to inspire them with his performance.

Answering a question, Inzamam said the England team has improved tremendously during the past three years and their victory against Australia in Ashes had enhanced their reputation as a cricketing nation.—APP
