RAHIM YAR KHAN: A woman lawyer was found dead in her Hussainabad house in mysterious circumstances on Tuesday, while the district bar association alleged she was murdered by her husband.
According to the district bar association secretary general Mirza Amin Khan, the husband of Advocate Sadia Malik, 24, mother of two minors, and a resident of Street No 5, Hussainabad, on Tuesday morning informed her father that she had committed suicide on Monday night.
The father called Mr Khan and informed him about the incident, who called a forensic team from Bahawalpur which collected evidences from the scene.
The body was shifted to Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) where a postmortem examination was conducted.
Mr Khan claimed the postmortem report proved that Sadia was strangled with hands.
A police team reached the spot, took the statement of Zohaib, who claimed that his wife locked herself in a room and committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope from the ceiling fan.
The DBA secretary general rejected Zohaib’s statement, alleging that he (her husband) was the murderer.
The city B division police registered a murder case against the victim’s husband on her father’s complaint and arrested him.
The DBA expressed grief and anger over the lawyer’s “murder”.
