LARKANA, Nov 8: Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chairman Bashir Qureshi has criticized the Shirazi group of Thatta and demanded an inquiry into the alleged sale of coastal land. Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, he alleged that after buying land in the costal area, the Shirazis gifted 1,500 acres to the Sindh governor and 1,400 acres near the Haleji Lake to Senate Chairman Mohammedmian Soomro and established an agriculture farm on 350 acres of land in Jhampir.
He demanded that an honest judge like Nasir Aslam Zahid should be appointed to probe the matter. He said he was ready to pay any fine if his claims were proved wrong.
Mr Bashir alleged that division of districts in Sindh was aimed at creating fiefdoms for landlords and other influential people who would be given free hand to commit atrocities against people.
The JSQM leader announced to hold a protest demonstration and stage a sit-in outside the Karachi Press Club on Nov 12 against the Shirazi group.
Responding to a question, he said he had no reservations over formation of a nationalists’ alliance but added that without real struggle, the exercise would be futile.
He said issuance of Computerized National Identity Cards to Biharis was aimed at converting Sindhis into a minority in the province. He demanded not to issue CNICs to aliens.
Athar Soomro, Muzaffar Sandano and other JSQM leaders were also present.
