KARACHI, Nov 8: Various parts of the city continue to face water shortage for the last one week. The hard-hit localities include North Karachi’s Sector 11-A, Surjani Town’s Sector 7-D, Bath Island, Clifton’s blocks 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7, Khokarapar, Saudia Colony and parts of Model Colony and Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

Residents of Clifton’s affected blocks complained that since acute water shortage had been persisting in their localities for the last couple of weeks, they are mostly depending on private tanker service.

Deploring that all their requests for the restoration of their normal supply have, so far, remained unheeded, they demanded of the KWSB MD to direct the officials to help resolve the lingering water issue without any further delay as they cannot afford to purchase private tankers for such a longer period.

Residents of North Karachi’s Sector 11-A and Surjani Town’s Sector 7-D complained that although they are deprived of water for the four or five days, the KWSB officials have not yet taken measures to restore their supply despite the fact that they had brought the issue to their notice.

They have no choice but to either consume sub-soil unhygienic water or purchase private tankers at exorbitant rates.

OVERFLOW: Filthy water gushing out from a choked storm-water drain has spread on either sides of Shahrah-i-Quaideen, near Lines Area and Khudadad Colony, creating hindrance in the smooth flow of traffic.
