QUETTA: Parliamentary Secretary for Health Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi has said that in the light of recommendations of the National Human Development Report 2020, serious steps have to be taken to increase the country’s growth rate.

An imbalance has been identified which needs to be addressed along lines of reform, she said while speaking at the launching of National Human Development Report 2020 in Balochistan on behalf of UNDP.

“We can increase the overall GDP by improving Balochistan’s natural resources such as mines and minerals, fisheries, livestock and coastal development projects which will not only improve the economy but also help in alleviating poverty in the province,” she said.

She claimed that the law and order situation was significantly better than in the past, adding that Balochistan had ample investment opportunities in sectors like mineral and mines, fisheries, agriculture and livestock, which needed to be exploited.

She said that there was policy for every sector but they were not being implemented.

“We have made it a tradition that our problems will be solved from the outside. We have to change this. Only when the contours of our collective thinking change will we see positive things.”
