QUETTA: An anti-polio drive to immunise 2.5 million children up to five years of age will start in Balochistan on Monday.

Hameed­ullah Nasar, Coordinator of Em­e­­rgency Operations Centre, Balochis­tan, told a press conference on Thurs­day, that all arr­angements had been made for the drive in 34 districts of the province. Dr Aftab, Dr Zulfiqar, Dr Musa and Dr Anwar Bugti also spoke on the occasion.

“A total of 11,383 teams will take part in the campaign, including 9,470 mobile teams, 949 fixed sites and 592 transit points, while 19,200 law enforcement personnel from Levies Force, police and Balochistan Constabulary, will provide security to the teams. There are fixed transit points on the borders where people of all ages are vaccinated against polio,” he said.
