KARACHI, Jan 24: Friends and fans of distinguished humorous poet Dilawar Figar will hold a seminar, followed by poetic sitting at 5pm at Sheikh Zaid Islamic Centre, Karachi University, on Saturday in connection with his first death anniversary.

The seminar, organized by the monthly ‘Zarafat’, will be presided over by Jamiluddin Aali. S.H. Hashmi will be the chief guest on the occasion. The chairman of the National Language Authority, Fateh Mohammad Malik, Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi, Chairman Academy of Letters Iftikhar Arif, Siddiq-ul-Farooq, Sehar Ansari, Rasool Ahmad Kaleemi, S.M. Moeen Qureshi and Aziz Ahmad will speak on the personality and poetry of Dilawar Figar.

A humorous poetic sitting will be presided over by Prof Dr Zafar Saeed Saifi, the vice chancellor of Karachi University.

Prof Anwar Masaood, Sarfraz Shahid, Dr Inamul Haq Javaid, Anwar Brailvi, Ameerul Islam Hashmi, Athar Shah Khan Jaidi, Mirza Asi Akhtar, Her Fun Lakhnavi, Saeed Agha, Farhat Nadeem Hamayun, Haider Husnain Jaleesi and Tabassam Siddiqui will read their verses at the humorous poetry sitting.—APP
