GUJRANWALA, Nov 7: All police constables deployed at their respective residential tehsils will be transferred shortly, it is learnt here. A source said on Monday that District Police Officer Dr Arif Mushtaq had reviewed the performance of constables deployed at their residential tehsils and reportedly expressed his dissatisfaction over it.

He said the DPO had evolved a strategy to transfer all these officials to other tehsils for improvement in their efficiency and sought the list of constables in this regard.

GCCI: The Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the industrialists and traders to continue moral and financial support to quake affected people till their complete rehabilitation.

Speaking at a meeting held here on Monday, chamber officiating president Ziaullah Irfani and vice-president Anwer Aslam appreciated the business community for providing relief goods and cash to the quake affected people.

MMA: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal will support an ARD nominee instead of a ruling PML aspirant in the by-election on Punjab Assembly seat PP-97 to be held on Nov 22.

This was stated by MMA’s Ghakkhar Town president Qari Rafiq Gilani while speaking at a meeting here on Monday.

He said the MMA would play an active role for the supremacy of democracy and human rights. He alleged that the government was promoting moderation at the behest of the US which was against Islam. PPP MNA Imtiaz Safdar Warraich and ARD nominee Chaudhry Fazal Abbas Cheema thanked Mr Gilani for extended his full cooperation.

The ruling PML has nominated Chaudhry Nasir Cheema, the brother of former MPA Chaudhry Muhammad Azam Cheema, on this seat.

The seat fell vacant when the Lahore High Court disqualified ruling MPA Mian Mazhar Javed because of his fake certificate.
