Published November 8, 2005

THATTA, Nov 7: People’s Party Parliamentarians MPA from Thatta Humera Alwani has called for an adequate compensation by the government of Sindh for families of 35 people who lost their lives in an incident of boat sinking near Keti Bunder.

She was talking to Dawn here on Monday on her way to Bachal Soomro village where the incident occurred on Eid day.

Ms Alwani said she had moved a resolution in the Sindh Assembly which would be taken up in the next session for a permanent strategy to cope with future eventualities and catastrophes.

She said the resolution would help in minimizing the losses of lives as well as appropriate compensation to affected families of the boat tragedy.

She said that under the Rules of Procedure 102 and 103 and its sub-clause I, she had submitted a resolution which would be taken up in the assembly most probably on November 25.

She said she had suggested setting up rescue centres along the Sindh coast.
