HYDERABAD, Nov 7: Sindh Cane Commissioner Shams Jafrani has announced the schedule of the crushing season as notified by the management of sugar mills in Sindh. According to a notification issued here on Monday, the Ansari Sugar Mills Matli, Laar Sugar Mills Sujawal and Tando Mohammad Khan Sugar Mills will start crushing from November 11.

The Al-Abbas Sugar Mills, Bawany Sugar Mills, Dewan Khoski Sugar Mills, Faran Sugar Mills, Mehran Sugar Mills, Mirpurkhas Sugar Mills and Tharparkar Sugar Mills will start the crushing from November, 15.

The Matiari Sugar Mills will start from November, 13, Ranipur Sugar Mills and Al-Noor Sugar Mills will start crushing from November 14, 2005.

The remaining mills will also start the crushing within next ten days.

He said the Seri Sugar Mills had already started crushing from October 23.

NAZIM: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jameel has taken a notice of an incident in which a child of one-and-a-half-year-old fell into an open manhole and died on the spot in Qasimabad phase-II.

He appointed the MD of Wasa as inquiry officer to probe into the incident and submit report within 24 hours.

The nazim during his meeting with officers of the HDA directed them to cover all manholes within shortest possible time and to ensure that no such incident occurred in future failing which exemplary action would be taken against the responsible officials.

He directed the MD to fix the responsibility of the incident while inquiring into the matter so that the negligent officer could be taken to task.

ADMISSIONS: The Univers-ity of Sindh on Monday notified the first provisional list of candidates selected on merit for admission to all bachelor degree programmes for the academic session 2006.

The director of admissions, Mr Saleh Rajar, said that the list of selected candidates had also been posted on the Sindh University’s website www.usindh.edu.pk

The lists of selected candidates have been displayed at notice boards of the Sindh University Model School Hyderabad and the directorate of admission, administration block at the Allama I.I. Kazi campus Jamshoro.

He said that objections on any admission could be filled by the candidates up to November 9 in person at the office of the director admissions of the University of Sindh.

He said the offices of the directorate of admissions of the university would remain open on November 9 to receive objections from the candidates though it was an official holiday.

The final first merit list of the selected candidates for admission to bachelors degree programme in all disciplines would be notified on November 10 and will also be posted on the website of the university.

The selected candidates can deposit the admission fee through bank challan at the Habib Bank Limited Jamshoro branch from November 11 while the last date for depositing admission fee will be November 21.

The challans of admission fee will be issued by the directorate of admissions on showing the original qualification certificates and other required documents by the candidates.

Meanwhile, the director of admissions of the University of Sindh announced that November 8 was the last date for depositing admission fee by candidates selected for admissions to Master’s degree programme in various disciplines for the session 2006.
