SAHIWAL, Nov 6: Police registered a case against 50 people, including a prayer leader, for taking out an ‘illegal’ procession and allegedly harassing a labourer on Eid day (Friday) in Kamir Town.

Reports said a grand daughter of kiln worker Baqar Ali died a day before Eid. The son of Baqar Ali approached mosque imam Maulana Riaz Ahmed for funeral prayers of the infant. On his refusal, Baqar criticized the prayer leader.

Later, Maulana Riaz incited people during the Eidul Fitr sermon who allegedly attacked the house of Baqar under his leadership.

Kamir police have registered a case against Abdul Jabbar, Anjam Awan, Arsalan, Allah Ditta, Zafar, Iqbal Khichi, Amjad, Akmal, Hasan, Hamid, Rashid Ahmed, Rehmat Khichi and others. However, no arrest was reported.
