MUZAFFARABAD: A soldier from the army was among three men who drowned in a water body in Jhelum Valley district of Azad Kashmir (AJK) on Saturday while trying to save another drowning man who survived.

A police official told Dawn that Umar Bashir, 22, an armyman on holiday, was picnicking along the bank of Zilzal Lake, along with his relatives Waqar Bashir, 27, and Sayam Sadaqat, 15, when they noticed a drowning man and swam to rescue him.

While the fourth man, Farhan Sabir, was rescued by other people present on the spot, the three disappeared in the deep water body within a short time.
