TAXILA: Punjab Revenue Minister Malik Mohammad Anwar has said the government is recruiting 5,000 patwaris to meet the shortage of manpower in the Board of Revenue (BoR).

He stated this at a function held to distribute appointment letters in Pindigheb town of Attock district on Saturday.

The minister distributed appointment letters among seven patwaris from Pindigheb and three from Fatehjang circle, including one woman.

The minister said in the first leg of appointment 3,500 patwaris had been appointed in various circles of the province while the rest of vacancies would be filled in phases in the next one year.

He said that the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) in an attempt to improve service delivery and facilitate citizens with regard to land record services had initiated expansion of land record services by establishing Arazi Record Centres. These newly-appointed officials would be appointed at these centres.

He said that the post of patwaris was essential for the hierarchy of the revenue department.

“Efforts are being made to take revolutionary and innovative steps for the betterment of the finance department, which has led to a record increase in revenue generation today,” Mr Anwar said.

Later, talking to reporters, the minister said that tenders for construction of Fatehjang-Pindigheb Road will be issued next month and work on both sides will start simultaneously.

He said that the government was making every effort to ensure the deployment of specialist doctors at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Pindigheb to provide better medical facilities at their doorsteps.
