LAHORE, Nov 2: A 10-year-old boy was killed after being hit by the official vehicle of DIG (welfare) Tehseen Anwar in the Qila Gujjar Singh area on Tuesday. Waqas was crossing Abott Road when the rashly-driven police vehicle hit him.
Sources said police concerned managed to hush up the matter by forcing the victim’s family not to register a case.
Qila Gujjar Singh police officials said the matter had been ‘amicably resolved’. The victim’s family, they claimed, had forgiven the driver.
The boy’s family could not be contacted till filling of the report. Police said the body was handed over to the family without autopsy.
GANGS BUSTED: Sadar division CIA claimed on Tuesday to have arrested two alleged members of a drug-peddlers’ gang and recovered 160 kg hashish and a car from their possession.
The arrested outlaws were identified as Sher Muhammad and Naeem.
Meanwhile, Ghalib Market police also claimed to have busted a gang of alleged car robbers and arrested its three members.
Police said four stolen vehicles were recovered from the accused, Zafar alias Chapu (ringleader), Nasar and Nabil.
The accused were wanted in a number of car snatching cases registered with different police stations of the city.
Similarly, the National Highways and Motorways Police busted a gang of criminals and arrested its seven members, recovering a pistol, a gun and scores of bullets from them.
They were Ehsan, Salahuddin, Asif Iqbal, Aslam, Badaruddin, Nazir Ahmed and Anwar.
