Release of 60 prisoners ordered

BAHAWALPUR, Nov 2: District and Sessions Judge Syed Ijaz Husain Shah on Wednesday ordered release of 60 prisoners involved in petty cases on the eve of Eidul Fitr.

The judge along with judicial magistrate Tariq Javed visited the new central jail and reviewed cases of a number of inmates. The judicial team after a thorough scrutiny of their cases ordered to release them.

LIFE THREATS: Some influential members of a clan have ordered to kill a couple under ‘karo kari’ near Khanpur.

Talking to journalists at Bahawalpur press club here on Wednesday, Iftikhar and Sughran, who recently contracted love marriage at Mauza Mudkaloo, Ahmedabad, said many attempts on their lives had been made during the last some days. They alleged that many people of their clan were criminals and involved in several cases.

The couple have appealed to the government and human rights organizations to provide them protection.

POLICE FAILURE: Police have failed to arrest main accused Muhammad Husain alias Kala, who had set ablaze his wife Kiran and mother-in-law Shamshad Mai in Himyatan locality three days ago.

However, police claimed to have arrested his accomplice Siraj and were conducting raids for the arrest of the main accused.
