DADU, Nov 2: Three primary school-teachers, Bashir Ahmed Zour, Yaseen Panhwar and Saheb Khan Jatoi, have threatened to commit self-immolation on Eid day. They and other teachers were protesting outside the local press club on Wednesday for payment of their 12 months’ salary.

More than 50 teachers observed a token hunger strike on the occasion.

President of the School Management Committee of the Teachers Association, Dadu district, Mohammad Ali Panhwar told reporters that the former EDO Education had appointed 300 teachers to open closed schools in the districts from the funds of School Management Committee.

He said only few teachers received the salaries while most of the teachers were not paid for the last twelve months.

He alleged that the education officials posted on political basis had embezzled the SMC funds.

General Secretary of the association Ayub Jamali said that the SMC teachers had met with the District Nazim Karim Ali, who had promised to release their salaries. But their salaries were yet not released, they said.

He appealed to the president and other authorities to ensure payment of their salaries.
