JACOBABAD, Nov 1: Students of the Jacobabad Technical College took out a protest procession here on Tuesday against the chairman of the local Zakat and Ushr committee for non-payment of MORA scholarships to deserving students.

The procession started from the college and after passing through various roads reached the Zakat and Ushr office where the protesters staged a sit-in and observed a token hunger strike for one hour.

The protesters carried banners and placards and raised slogans against Zakat officials.

Speaking on the occasion, student leaders Intezar Abro, Azizullah Soomro, Nawaz Naich, Amjad Kharani and others said they had not received MORA scholarships.

They said they had been protesting against the non-payment of scholarships but no action had been taken so far.

They warned that if deserving students were not given the scholarships, they would observe a hunger strike and take out processions on Eid day.
