Building code to be enforced: Nazim

QUETTA, Nov 1:City District Nazim Mir Maqbool Lehri has said that the ‘building code’ will be strictly implemented in Quetta owing to its seismic sensitivity. Speaking at the ‘Face to face’ programme held at the press club on Monday, he said that the provincial capital was facing problems of shortage of water, dilapidated roads, improper drainage system and undisciplined traffic.

Mir Maqbool Lehri said that recently a joint meeting of the officials of the city government, provincial government and army officers was held to formulate a guideline for coordination within government functionaries regarding rescue and relief operation to face any natural disaster.

Mir Lehri said that his government’s top priority was to improve the law and order situation.

PENSIONERS’ BODY: A former member of the Balochistan Board of Revenue, Syed Moha-mmad Hussain Shah, and Dr Faqir Mohammad were elected president and general secretary of the Balochistan Pensioners Welfare Association, respectively.—APP
