RAWALPINDI, Nov 1: All Parties National Alliance (APNA) has sought handing over of the relief operation in earthquake-hit areas of Azad Kashmir to United Nations Security Council to make sure the transparent and equal distribution of the relief in affected areas.

This demand was made in a representative meeting of the APNA, an alliance of 14 nationalist parties of Jammu Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, held here with Sardar Javed Sharif, Chairman APNA in the chair, Dr Abbas, Secretary General of the alliance conducted the session.

APNA leaders have also called upon UN Secretary General to make efforts to manage the relief coming from different countries for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction of quake hit areas.

There are apprehensions that the process would not go through in a smooth and transparent manner, they said.

They expressed their no-confidence in the relief operation by Army saying that this should be immediately stopped and United Nations took it. If it is not possible for the World body, then government of Azad Kashmir should be given the task, the they demanded.

To run the relief and rehabilitation operation in a transparent manner, it is imperative to involve people from gross root level including ward committees and union council level, APNA meeting demanded. They said that relief bodies should make quick efforts to provide relief to far flung areas to save many lives of stranded people there.

They rejected the shifting of people of Azad Jammu Kashmir outside Kashmir saying that this would create problems for Kashmiri people. Quake hit people should be shifted to Mirpur and Kotli districts of AJK till their houses would be built again. There is immediate need of setting up of the state institutions in order to run the affairs and impose the writ of government once again, they maintained.

The alliance praised the gestures of world community and people of Pakistan after October 8, devastating earthquake. They also welcome the decision of opening of the cease-fire line for free movement of Kashmiri people.

They also demanded the opening of Kargil Skardu road and Gultari-Srinagar road for movement of Kashmiris living on either side of the line of divide. In the meeting alliance strongly condamn the imposition of long lasting curfew and killing of innocent people of Gilgit Baltistan. They demand the withdrawal of curfew orders and release of detainees immediately.

The meeting was attended by representatives of all components of the alliance.
