Dollar up against euro

LONDON, Nov 1: The dollar strengthened here on Tuesday on a better-than-expected report on US manufacturing activity, but gains against the euro were limited as dealers awaited a Federal Reserve decision on interest rates.

The single European currency in late-day trade was at 1.2002 dollars against 1.1990 late Monday in New York.

The dollar was meanwhile trading at 116.73 yen after 116.37 on Monday.

Gains against the euro have also been checked ahead of a rate decision by the European Central Bank on Thursday.

The euro was changing hands at 1.2002 dollars against 1.1990 late on Monday in New York, 140 yen (139.57), 0.6804 pounds (0.6774) and 1.5481 Swiss francs (1.5456).

The dollar stood at 116.63 yen (116.37) and 1.2893 Swiss francs (1.2882).—AFP
