GUJRANWALA, Jan 23: The Election Commission of Pakistan has nominated two registration officers and 44 assistant registration officers for Gujranwala district to update voters’ list.

According to a notification issued on Wednesday, deputy election commissioner Abdul Sattar was named registration officer for the city and Cantonment areas while assistant election commissioner Abdul Qadir for Sadar, Naushera Virkan, Wazirabad and Kamoki tehsils. Both the registration officers have been given powers of a first class magistrate.

Seventeen assistant registration officers were also nominated for 33 wards of tehsil city council.

Meanwhile, the election commission ordered re-polling in two union councils of Sialkot district on Jan 30.

Elections will be held for the seat of Nazim and Naib Nazim of union council No 38/3 and for labour/peasant of union council No 22 of Sialkot tehsil.

The election commission announced that polling stations would be set up at the Government Primary School for Boys in Rajwan village and the Government Girls Primary School, Mehmanwali.
