KARACHI, Nov 1: Cargo handling activity at the Karachi port is expected to further pick up on Wednesday as 10 vessels are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Wednesday, according to KPT sources.

The incoming ships are carrying containers, crude oil and high speed diesel and a rice loader, third vessel during the last three weeks, which load 13,500 tons of rice.

Berthing activity at the wharves was active where five ships, Satha Bhum Thor Captain to unload and load containers, Iran Sarbaz, to offload and load general cargo, M.M.M. Kingston to load 2,100 tons of chemical and Hajer to load rice were berthed after the departure of four.

The ships, which departed included United Prosperity, Bunga Delima, Swat and Nanking, while Iran Yamin, M.M.M. Kingston, Hanjin Busan and Satha Bhum are due to sail out on Wednesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was modest where a total tonnage fell to 46,568 tons comprising 10,588 tons of export cargo including 1,670 tons of rice and 35,980 tons of import cargo.

The following ships are due on Wednesday: Yanaseni, to unload chemicals, Keefan, to offload high speed diesel, Johar, to offload crude oil, Kuo Hung Y.M. Energy, Kota Wajar, Hyundai Advance and Harmony to unload and load containers, Santa Fe, to load 13,500 tons of rice and Bsle Express, to offload steel and general cargo.
