ISLAMABAD, Oct 31: The Foreign Office on Monday rejected Indian allegations of cross-border terrorism and involvement of elements in Pakistan in the New Delhi bomb attacks, saying there was no evidence to support such allegations.

When Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam’s comments were sought on the Indian allegation, she said: “It is unfortunate that no evidence has been shared with us and instead the Indian side has chosen to level allegations against Pakistan through the media.”

In the absence of any evidence, she said, the claims of evidence leading towards involvement of elements in Pakistan remain unsubstantiated allegations.

She pointed out that President Musharraf in his opening statement at the press conference on post-earthquake developments earlier in the day had reiterated Pakistan’s strong and unequivocal condemnation of terrorist attacks in New Delhi.

The spokesperson said subsequently a telephonic conversation between President Musharraf and the Indian prime minister took place at the initiative of the president. She said the president reiterated his condemnation and offer of full cooperation in investigation of the attacks if India requested it.

“It was our reasonable expectation that in view of president’s offer of cooperation in investigations at the highest level, India would share with us any evidence it claimed of involvement of elements in Pakistan in the Delhi blasts,” the spokesperson observed.
