Punjab Games likely to be postponed

Published November 1, 2005

LAHORE, Oct 31: The second India-Pakistan Punjab Games are likely to be postponed after the Punjab Olympic Association (POA) decides to close down all the training camps set up for preparing a squad for the Games scheduled to be held on Dec 21-27 in four different cities of the province.

The decision was taken after Indian Punjab Olympic Association voiced its reluctance over sending a contingent to Pakistan in the wake of Oct 8 earthquake.

The POA has received a letter in this connection from Indian Punjab Olympic Association.

It is likely that the POA refer the Indian request to Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, to take a final decision on the fate of the Games.

The Games may be postponed till March next year.
