ISLAMABAD, Oct 31: Ashraf Qureshi has been elected as the president of Rawalpindi Cricket Association (RCA) and Masood Anwar as the secretary.

The venue of the election had to be moved from the Diamond Cricket Ground to the Army Stadium in Rawalpindi after ugly scenes were witnessed between the rival groups.

The elections were conducted by Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) election commissioner Javed Zaman with Kashif Zahid as the coordinator.

Qureshi bagged 49 votes as against 11 polled to Shakil Awan out of a total of 61 votes. One voter was absent.

Masood on the other hand beat Raja Ghulam Abbas for the post of secretary earning 40 votes while has rival had 19.

Asif Bajwa who got elected as the treasurer bagged 44 votes with his opponent Jamil Abbas getting only 16.

The tenure of the new office bearers will be three years.
