SIALKOT, Oct 31: Strike of brick kiln workers against price hike and low wages entered its eighth day on Monday. At a meeting held here on Monday at the district labour office with Bonded Labour Freedom Front Pakistan President Aslam Pervaiz Sahotra in the chair, workers expressed their grave concern over the rising exploitation by kiln owners.

Addressing the meeting, Aslam Sahotra and other local labourers urged the government to make necessary legislation for curbing bonded labour at kilns, besides protecting their basic rights.

They urged the government to announce a minimum daily wage of Rs350.

They alleged that workers in the district were deprived of basic facilities under the Social Security Act.

They have vowed to continue agitation till the acceptance of their demands.

SECURITY: The district police have chalked out a foolproof security plan to avert any untoward incident on the eve of Eidul Fitr.

Sialkot SP (HQs) Sharaq Jamal Khan told the press here on Monday that security had been tightened at all mosques, churches, imambargahs and seminaries in the district.
