KARACHI, Oct 31: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has sent eight more trucks loaded with relief items to Azad Kashmir and parts of the NWFP as part of its ongoing operations to help the affected people.

These trucks were sent by the Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation of the MQM in the presence of the coordination committee’s head in Pakistan, Anwar Alam. The relief items included blankets, tents, woollies and eatables.

These items would be delivered at the MQM base camp in Islamabad from where they would be dispatched to the affected areas after proper sorting.

FAZL CRITICIZED: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Rabita Committee has contradicted the statement of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman alleging that relief items collected by the Jamaat-i-Islami and various other opposition parties for the earthquake victims were being handed over to the MQM, adds APP.

Describing the statement of Maulana Fazlur Rehman as baseless, the Rabita Committee criticized the Maulana for the “politics of hypocrisy”, said a press release issued here on Sunday.

It stated that the Maulana should have praised the MQM’s efforts for the quake-affected people of the NWFP and Azad Kashmir.

According to the Rabita Committee, the MQM has established over 100 relief camps for the quake survivors all over Sindh, including Karachi, where people generously donated relief goods.

Besides, the spirit of people from different walks of life including traders, industrialists, sportsmen and artists who gave relief items to the MQM for the quake victims was on record and the media was to it.
