Pakistan reports 3,752 Covid cases, highest since May 21

Pakistan has reported 3,752 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, which is the highest number of daily infections in over two months.

The last time more cases were reported was on May 21, when 4,007 people tested positive for the virus.

With the addition of these infections, Pakistan's total number of cases since the pandemic began has reached 1,008,446.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre, 49,947 tests were conducted the last 24 hours, which translates into a positivity rate of 7.5 per cent.

Thirty two people succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the country's death toll to 23,048.

The breakdown of cases and deaths in the last 24 hours is as follows:

  • Sindh: 2,308 cases, 19 deaths
  • Punjab: 556 cases, 5 deaths
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 298 cases, 3 deaths
  • Islamabad: 261 cases, 1 death
  • Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 207 cases
  • Balochistan: 77 cases, 3 deaths
  • Gilgit Baltistan: 45 cases, 1 death
