ASI, constable hurt in shootout

GUJRAT, Oct 30: An ASI and a constable were shot at and injured by some criminals of the Thala group near Bolani in Sarai Alamgir on Saturday night. Police sources claimed that a heavy police contingent had conducted a raid on a hideout near Bolani in search of proclaimed offenders and criminals of the Thala group. On seeing police, the suspected POs opened fire on them. The police also returned the fire.

The crossfire continued for more than an hour, leaving ASI Asjad and constable Riaz critically injured. The police removed the injured to a nearby hospital.

They said that some criminals also received bullet wounds, but they managed to escape from the scene.

Sarai Alamgir police have registered a case against some 40 criminals and are investigating.
