KOHAT, Oct 30: A group of union nazims, naib nazims and councillors has failed to finalize a consensus candidate for the post of convener of the Kohat tehsil council, although they have already nominated a candidate for the district council’s convener through draw.

As politicking reached its peak ahead of the in-house election for the two vacant posts, Seth Noor Mohammad’s group held a meeting of nazims, naib nazims and councillors on Sunday, but it could not nominate a candidate for the post of tehsil nazim.

About half a dozen aspirants for the post also objected to the method of selecting a candidate for the two posts through draw.

As a result, the position of Arif advocate, who had been already selected in the same manner, was undermined considerably.

The nazims from Shakardarra town repeatedly disrupted the meeting demanding that the 11-member committee constituted for the purpose should appoint consensus candidates.
