LARKANA, Oct 30: Growers from different parts of Qambar on Saturday took out a procession against traders and millers who purchase paddy at low rates. Amir Bakhsh Jagirani, Mujeeb Bhutto and others led the procession.

The protesters after marching through main roads of the town staged a sit-in outside the press club where a former MPA from Qambar, Ghulam Mujtaba Isran, joined them.

They criticized millers and traders for buying 40 kilograms of paddy at Rs240 to Rs290 from growers. They said that outside Qambar, paddy was being procured at Rs350 per 40 kilograms.

They called for payment of Rs350 per 40 kilograms of paddy to growers and added that their protest would continue till fixing an appropriate rate for their produce.

Later, Mr Isran and Mujeeb Bhutto held a meeting with Qambar-Shahdadkot DCO Mukhtiar Soomro and apprised him of the situation.
