LAKKI MARWAT: The government has approved Rs2 billion for installation of tubewells to overcome the problem of water shortage in the Lakki Marwat district, says provincial social welfare minister Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan.

Speaking at public gatherings in Darra Pezu town on Saturday, he said he believed in serving people without any discrimination.

Mr Inamullah said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led government in the centre and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had launched a number of mega uplift projects during the last three years to bring a real change in people’s lives.

On the occasion, activists of different political and religious parties announced joining the PTI.

“During the last three years the provincial government completed work on installation of 130 solar-run drinking water schemes and 20 irrigation tubewells in the backward southern district,” the minister claimed, saying he had got approved billions of rupees from the

provincial government for launching development projects in water supply, communication, education and health sectors.

Dr Inamullah said the government had also approved setting up colleges for boys and girls in Darra Pezu, Ghaznikhel and Ahmadzai areas.

He said the nursing and paramedical colleges would be completed at a cost of Rs3 billion as the process to select sites had already been completed.

The minister said the government had also launched work on the Shaikh Badin dam project at a cost of Rs750 million to help raise the underground water table and boost agriculture and its allied sectors, including livestock, forestry, wildlife, fisheries and tourism.

He said over 150 mosques had been put on solar power in the district.

TEACHERS APPOINTED: Lakki Marwat district education officer Zahoor Khan has appointed six primary schoolteachers under the son quota of the deceased and medically-incapacitated employees.

The newly-appointed teachers received appointment letters from the district education officer at a ceremony on Saturday.

Mr Zahoor asked the teachers perform their duties with professional zeal.
