RAWALPINDI: Crime continued unabated during Eidul Azha holidays as more than 42 cases, including motorbike, car thefts and burglaries were reported to police.
On the first day of Eid, police recorded 15 motorcycle thefts, two cars, three burglaries and nine street crimes.
Asad Ali was on way home when he was robbed of his mobile phone at gunpoint by two motorcycle riders in the New Town area on Eid day.
Ahsan Mukhtar complained to the Rawat police that three persons entered in his grocery shop and snatched away Rs20,000 at gunpoint.
Mohammad Zahid lodged a similar complaint with Chontra police saying that three shopkeepers were robbed of cash by three robbers at gunpoint.
Arslan Rehman,Osama Faisal, Mohammad Waqas, Rehman Rehbar, Mohammad Asif were among the 15 victims who were deprived of their motorcycles.
Qasir Ijaz’s car was stolen from the porch of his house in the Airport police area.
On the second day of Eid, the police registered eight cases of motorcycle theft, three burglaries, six general thefts and two robberies in which people were deprived of cash and other valuables by culprits.
Faisal Razaq, associated with a bakery as manager, complained to the Rawat police that three persons came on a car and forcibly entered the outlet and snatched Rs200,000 and mobile phones and escaped in their car.
Sajjad Haider lodged a similar complaint with the Rawat police saying that he along with his family was returning home after celebrating Eid with his mother when four motorcycle riders who were wearing masks blocked his way and snatched Rs60,000 from him and four gold bangles, one diamond ring and two earrings she was wearing grabbed and later sped off. Khadam Hussain complained to the Sadiqabad police that four unidentified women entered his house in Al-Noor Colony and stole away a purse containing gold jewellery worth Rs70,000.
Khush Baig, Afaq Sikandar, Amir Abbas, Mohammad Yasin, Munir Ahmed, Mohammad Mudassar, Suleman Khan, Sameer Ali were deprived of their motorcycles on the second day of Eid.
In addition, a man was murdered, while his cousin was injured over a petty issue on Thursday, the second day of Eid in the Chontra area.
Azhar Ali complained to the police that he along with his brother and cousins were at home when a sacrificial animal ran away. He said as they started chasing the animal, it entered into a private land where a security guard fired a gunshot on his cousin Imran Khan. When his brother Mehmood Ahmed tried to rescue his brother, he was also targeted and shot.
Mehmood died while being shifted to the DHQ hospital, he said in the FIR.
